I have ATT Uverse cable, which has a router and modem together in one box they provide. In order to make Vonage work, I also have a Netgear splitter, with one ethernet cable going into my computer for internet access, and another going into my DLink vonage router for VOIP. The latter cannot be accessed from my computer at the usual 192.168.0.1 – this times out and cannot connect. Consequently, my DLink has no security settings and is an unsecured wireless access point. How can I access the DLink router to set up security/password protection? Thank you.

I get ZERO reception in my apt with my iphone. Can someone present me with a few options. I was thinking of getting a pre paid phone and having my phone calls and text forward to it. The other option is if there’s a VOIP provider for the iphone. I need to receive and makes phone calls and text messages in my apt. Please help.

I am a current ATT Uverse customer and hate it. I am looking for another ISP in Grand Prairie, TX. I would prefer something non-VOIP. Verizon FIOS is not in my area. What are some good DSL, Cable, or other options for me in Grand Prairie (a suburb on the southwest side of Dallas)?

I know I know. I’m going to get a lot of haters here, let’s try and just keep it on topic, lol. I have an iPhone and was waiting for this thing to come out WITH cell phone capability via a ear peice. Obviously I would want to hold this monster to my head. Anyway, I’m disapointed, but I was wondering what the possibilities might be using VOIP through this device? After all you can get an unlimited data plan for a month which really kills the iPhone plan (if you can make calls through it.) I’m also wondering about porting my iPhone number away from ATT and to google voice. Any thoughts on this? Will not buy an iPad just to have another device. This needs to kill the phone and it’s bill for me, and I’m trying to find a way..

Interesting. And crappy (but thanks for the info!) Is Jailbreaking something that’ll get my iPad bricked by Apple if they can? Sounds like the only possibilities for me (going by their rules) would be to have people call my googlevoice number for incoming calls (assuming I can get an invite, lol) then read their messages via email, get to wifi and use skype through fring app to call out. Sounds like a pain, but maybe doable. I’m not a chatty person and let things go to VM usually, but I do need a number for clients to call..

Hi, my boss asked me to to figure out a way to cut down drastically on our telephone expenses. Although I don’t handle telephone systems per say, I’m a computer IT guy and figure I can handle this.
We currently have a 30 year old dinosaur phone system supported by Avaia and it’s routing four phone lines from ATT..then a fifth dedicated fax line which goes to a computer with fax software. Total 5 telephones, it’s a small office.
My goal is to cut down the telephone lines to 2 or 3 as business is very slow (we only advertise one number too). I’m hoping to get rid of the whole telephone system (which looks like a big switchboard and currently takes up a large closet) and get rid of the avaya bill too..phones can be bought on ebay for cheap when they break…we’re only paying for Avaya to keep the dinosaur alive, and they don’t want to do it. Basically the only features we need in office are the ability to put calls on hold and the boss likes his speed dialing…intercom would be nice.
Any suggestions..what would you do? Links to telephone routers or voip or something would help. Thanks.

We have 2 cellphones (/month and never use all of the minutes). We have internet (/mo), local and long distance () so our house phone is about /month. We’ve thought about VoIP (we have Skype). I think that the internet rate is tied to the phone rates (all are ATT.) Any advice? Can we get rid of the long distance and use prepaid cards or just the cellphone?

I told the att rep I do not have phone service,I only have internet vonage phone service which is voip, and she still said it would work….how is this possible?I think she doesn’t know what she was talking about.She said as long as one of the phone jacks works, it would be fine.Theres one thing if it works,and another if it’s actually connected.They are not connected…..
What does that mean?That would be great because I don’t want to pay 60 bucks for cable anymore and I’m not gonna get 2 phones….can u translate for the dummies lol i just don’t wanna call and cancel my order tomorrow that would suck-thanks!

We have Sprint, and live in an older place. Our place does not have reception, so Sprint had to send us an Airvana Airave. The Airave never works and constantly drops calls or doesn’t connect them. We have ATT U Verse for internet and tv. Is it better to get the VOIP (U Verse Phone) or a POT (Plain Ole Telephone)? We don’t want to spend very much, but would like to actually be able to talk to family and friends without our calls being dropped. We live in Houston (Tx) if that means anything. I’ve heard terrible things about Vonage and Magic Jack.
I know that the new thing going is "get rid of the evil, over priced landline".. but when you get no cell phone reception, its the only option. And please no, "Get rid of Sprint" remarks.. We’re locked in a contract and are overall happy with our service.

I want broadband phone service and broadband internet service all from the same company that way i receive just 1 bill. I don’t want to get a broadband phone from a different company and to keep staying with my ATT net service because i don’t want to receive two different bills every month.
Is there any companies out there that offer broadband Phone ( VoiP ) and Broadband Internet in a package?

I have att and my internet connection with them is stable; I also have a 2nd landline that is voip, so it is connected to my att modem. Now my problem is, I am trying to use my wireless router and my laptop picks up the connection and is able to connect to the internet sometimes, but there will be times it’ll say "problem loading page" and i click "try again" or just refresh and it’ll load again. There will also be times when the page loads, it loads up as cached and I’ll also just refresh then it will sometimes load up normally. My dad’s laptop on the other hand, won’t connect at all. When i first hooked up the router, his laptop picked up the connection and when I would try to browse the internet, it would load up the webpages as cached as well or just wouldn’t even load it at all. Does the dta box [voip phone router] interfere with my regular service provider’s modem and the wireless router connection? what can i do to fix this, PLEASE HELP! any/all help is appreciated.
